What NEXT?

Gggggaaaaaaarrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhh.

Just when I think it is as bad as it can be, it gets worse.

I had my ultrasound.

Nada. Nothing. Zip. No visible reason for this to have happened. No cysts, fibroids, nothing. In fact no ovaries.

Moreover, my uterus is abnormally small. Underdeveloped. Probably not suitable to carry a baby anyway, not that my dead ovaries will be able to make me one anyway.

Has anyone got a clue what this is? What happened that this happened? Is it my fault?

Apparently, when I was 14 (when all this started) I was given a pill by the doctor to delay my period. Could this have broken me somehow?

Help. Please. I am going crazy.

Hi girl, I found you through Mel's L&F site.

I found out I had a "hypoplastic" (abnormally small) uterus this past February. On top of PCOS, and not ovulating ever. My RE told me I had less than a 2% of ever being able to carry a pregnancy because of my defunct uterus without surgery.
He performed a surgical hysteroscopy and it was a breeze. He made several long cuts on the inside of the uterus that helped to stimulate the endometrium and enhance the size of my uterus.
It must have worked, because after several months of injections and IUIs, I just found out I am pregnant this morning.

Email me if you have more questions. I feel like the expert on weird uteruses after all I've been through!!

*hugs*

My mother was told way back in the 60s that she had an "infantile uterus". She was actually prescribed DES 7 years before ever having a child to stimulate its growth. Supposedly it worked, as she went on to be a fertile myrtle.

Hi. I found you through L&F.

I don't have personal experience but an older friend had a odd shaped uterus (from her mom's anti-nausea drugs back when) and had to 'stretch' out her uterus - entailing 1 miscarriage, 1 birth (child died 20 hours later) and then she had 3 wonderful children.

Good luck!!

Hiya, here via L+F.

Your uterus may be small because of the pof- if the ovaries aren't active, the uterus gets smaller over time.

But it's hard to know over the internet other than playing guessing games, so I wouldn't even attempt to give medical advice.

Just wanted to wish you luck,

J

Found you through L&F. Have you had an HSG or a lap yet? Thats the best way for them to tell exactly what is going on with your uterus and ovaries. I have a unicornuate uterus and only one ovary (and its not doing its job). It was first diagnosed during an emergency c-section when my ds was born at 31 weeks. Since then, I've had a definitive diagnosis with an HSG and a lap. There is a great Yahoo group for uterine anomalies. The group covers unicornuate, bicornuate and septate. If you find out you have one of those, feel free to check out the group: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/MullerianAnomalies/?yguid=137252498

Just saw you through L & F. Wanted to say hi and say I'm sorry you got smacked with this news now too. Did they say that the shape was normal, just small? I guess because that would make a big difference. Like Mel said, her's was correctable. I have a small uterus too (1/3rd the normal size). But mine is due to a congenital abnormality called a unicornuate uterus. It's in the family of mullerian abnormalities and is something that failed to develop when I was a embryo - it's not hereditary and nothing my mom did caused it. Anyways, I'll catch up on your journey and if I can be of any help - please drop by my blog or email anytime. I am finally pregnant myself and 16 wks along - so even with a funny uterus like Mel's and mine - it is still possible. Don't give up hope yet. Although when I found out about my uterus it was devastating to me. It hit me like a brick wall and I was very down for several days. I'll be thinking of you and checking back. Wishing you good thoughts!

Thank you to everyone for reading and replying to me.

I have calmed down a bit now and decided to insist on a second opinion.

What they said was it was normal shaped, but very small.

I havent had any other tests done in this respect, and now have to wait for the results to be sent to my doctor which will be about 10 days time.

Thanks again everyone
